DISABILITY RELATED REQUESTS
Including requests related to food allergies, dietary restrictions or other medically based dietary restrictions
Step 1: Register with SAS.
Step 2: Meet with the Director of Wellness and Nutrition, contact michelle_blais@brown.edu to schedule a meeting.
RELIGIOUS OR SPIRITUAL BASED REQUESTS
Step 1: Contact the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life to make an appointment with the appropriate Chaplain.
Step 2: Meet with the Director of Wellness and Nutrition, contact michelle_blais@brown.edu to schedule a meeting.
ALL REQUESTS
Step 3: Committee meets weekly to discuss current exemption requests
Step 4: Decisions will be sent from mealplan-exemptions@brown.edu
If approved for the exemption, refunds will be given based on the below proration schedule, if your request is made in the:
- First two weeks 80%
- Third week 60%
- Fourth week 40%
- Fifth week 20%
Exemption requests made outside of this window will be for the following semester.
APPEALS
Step 5: If students feel this decision clearly contrary to the evidence provided and wish to appeal the decision of the Meal Plan Exemption Committee, they can reach out to:
