Meal Plan FAQs
While you are adjusting to college life the last thing you’ll want to worry about is your meal credit balance and whether you have access to a healthy variety of food options when you’re hungry. The comfort from knowing that a warm meal is never far away is why a majority of students on campus stay on a meal plan.
Some of us just aren’t morning people. We’d suggest the 14 meals per week plan or the Flex 460 plan, which both effectively provide two meals a day.
Whether you live a few blocks or a few miles away from campus, there will be days when you appreciate the convenience of grabbing a bite to eat right before or after class. The 7 meals per week, Flex 240 or Off Campus meal plan may be right for you.
When you choose to stick around Providence for the weekend, we’ll still be open and a 14 Weekly or 7 Weekly meal plan will give you the means to go to any of our eateries.
All our dining halls have to-go containers and similar amenities for mobile meals.
You may contact our office beginning in May each year for more information.
Meal plans are available which provide access to Kosher entrees. They are served daily for lunch and dinner in the Sharpe Refectory. Provided by a Glatt Kosher caterer, students on a Kosher meal plan can access a separate blessed room to obtain their food and then rejoin their friends in the main seating area.
A local, certified halal butcher provides our meats served in the Sharpe Refectory.

The BDS Dietitian will work with each SEAS registered student to understand each student’s needs. We cannot accommodate for dietary preferences; however, we can provide students with information about our menus, recipes, and ingredients, how to navigate the dining halls for options, and the resources to assist in making meal plan work.

Both our dining halls have to-go containers and our retail eateries provide similar amenities for mobile meals. You may want to add more Flex points to your meal plan so you can take advantage of the late hours at the Campus Market, Andrews Commons, the Ivy Room and Josiah’s
You’ll find delicious, nutritionally complete vegetarian and vegan meals at all of our eateries. Our great vegetarian selection could be construed as a selfish gesture: there are more than just a few Brown Dining managers and chefs who are vegetarians or simply veggie lovers. But ultimately everyone benefits and Brown Dining takes pride in being able to offer a wide variety of tasty options that satisfy the herbivores (and omnivores) among us.
