    Ty is our Director of Culinary Operations. Ty joined Brown in 2016 in partnership with Bon Appetit Management Company. Ty’s infatuation with fine foods started at a young age in his mother’s kitchen. Ty has been working in the fine dining food industry for over 25 years and has been with Bon Appetit for 16 years. In his downtime, Ty enjoys his beautiful wife and 5 children and love for coaching football.

  • Michelle Blais

    Director of Wellness and Nutrition

    Fun Fact her favorite building in Rhode Island is the State House. She even has a Christmas ornament of it!

    Michelle joined our team in February of 2022. She grew up in New York, but moved to Rhode Island in 2016 and has no plans of leaving! Her favorite part of working for Dining has been how involved our students are. She loves interacting with students and the Brown community. When she is not working she enjoys cooking, hiking, reading, spending quality time with her family and spoiling her rescue dog Milo.

    Communications and Outreach Manager
    Favorite Food As a proud Rhode Island native, her favorite food is the RI weiner!

    Hannah joined the Brown Dining team in April 2022. She loves collaborating with students on events and meeting new people. Hannah is a 2019 Temple University graduate, and is currently earning her certificate in Interactive Design in the Continuing Education program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

  • Steve Oswald

    Director of Residential Dining
    Favorite Food I have to say, Brown’s pizza dough is amazing!
    Fun Fact The last two years, I have played in a men’s lacrosse league and our home field has been Anderson Stadium.

    Originally from New Hampshire, Steve relocated to Rhode Island and began his career with Brown University in August of 2023. Steve enjoys working with his team the most, pushing and challenging them to provide the best food and service possible.

  • Linda Whittaker

    Senior Manager of Residential Dining

    Linda came to Brown in 1996 and began her career at Brown working in the Refectory. She then spent many years managing the Blue Room and now calls the Refectory her home Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, especially her 2 grandchildren. Linda has lived in Middletown, Rhode Island her entire life, partly due to her love of the beach! Summer is her favorite time of the year as she enjoys the outdoors and a lobster salad roll!

  • Robert Noyes

    Fun Fact Has a 2004 New England Patriots Super Bowl Championship ring

    Bobby joined the Dining team in 2010, and has since held multiple positions within the department. His love for food, as well as the opportunity to meet and work alongside people from all over the world is what he values most about working at the University.

  • Kelly Murphy

    Director of Finance

    Kelly joined Brown Dining in April 2022, having previously worked in Brown’s Central Budget Office. Kelly’s prior work experience includes finance roles in the restaurant and retail industries. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Kelly fondly remembers her parents lugging home a case of Autocrat coffee syrup every summer after visiting her grandparents in New England.

  • Claire Sidla

    Director of Labor Relations
    Favorite Food Shrimp scampi with a caesar salad

    Claire joined Brown Dining originally in 1987 and worked for 5 years. She left and returned to Brown Dining in 1992 and continues to enjoy the customers who come into our Dining units and all the Dining family! She loves to watch the Hallmark station and loves listening to music in her quiet time. Being a New Englander she often visits New Hampshire and Vermont and takes in all of the beautiful nature those states have to offer.
