Special Requests and Accommodations

Our dining hall strives to provide a variety of options to cater to diverse dietary requirements. However, there may be instances where we are unable to fully accommodate certain allergies or dietary restrictions within our standard offerings. For students with a medical or dietary need that require special consideration and wish to request off the mandatory meal plan policy, please follow the steps below.

* Please note the proration schedule outlined. Exemption requests made outside of this window will be for the following semester.

For Disability Related Requests

Including requests related to food allergies, dietary restrictions or other medically based dietary restrictions

1: Register with Student Accessibility Services, upload any pertinent documentation from a health care provider into your SAS portal

2: Schedule a meeting with the Director of Wellness and Nutrition, contact michelle_blais@brown.edu to schedule a meeting.

 

For Religious or Spiritual Based Requests

1: Contact the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life to make an appointment with the appropriate Chaplain.

The meal plan exemption committee will meet to discuss requests on a weekly basis. Decisions will be sent via email to students following the meeting. 

 

Appealing the Decision of the Meal Plan Exemption Committee

If students feel the decision made was clearly contrary to the evidence provided and wish to appeal the decision of the Meal Plan Exemption Committee, they can reach out to:
