Reusable Container Program

The goal of this program is to reduce waste and promote sustainability by replacing disposable to-go containers with reusable alternatives in the Sharpe Refectory and Verney Woolley dining hall.

Reuse Pass

Key Features

Reusable Containers:

  • Each student wishing to take food to go can sign up with ReusePass here. Once signed up, students will receive a unique QR code (for speedy service, save to your Apple Wallet!).
  • Every time students wish to take food to go, cashiers will scan containers out to students using the student QR code and the QR code on the container.
  • Students will receive text messages reminding them to return their container to either the Sharpe Refectory or the Verney Woolley dining halls.
  • The containers are washed and sanitized in the dining hall’s commercial dishwashers.
  • Clean items are then ready for another use.

Convenient Process

  • Students simply return their used containers to a ReusePass return bin in Sharpe Refectory or Verney Woolley after eating.
  • No need to clean your used container! The dining hall staff manages the cleaning process efficiently.

Benefits

  • Waste Reduction: By using reusable containers, the program significantly reduces the number of disposable containers that end up in landfills.
  • Resource Conservation: Fewer single-use items mean less energy and resources used for production.
  • Environmental Impact: The program contributes to lowering the university’s carbon footprint.

Remember, small actions like using reusable containers collectively make a big difference in our environmental impact!
